Welcome to my e-design process. Transforming your space into one that tells a unifying story of who you are and what you love is a step by step process. Through this creative design process we will work together online as a team to turn your small space into your dream home so that you and your loved ones can enjoy it for years to come. Please note that design elements from previously worked on projects are custom designed for those clients alone, and cannot be adapted or transferred to other spaces.
Step 1: Initial Q&A
Upon receiving your email, I will respond with some questions to get a better idea of who you are and what you are looking to do with your space and to see if we’re a good fit. I will typically response within 2 business days. Typical questions might include seeing a photo of your existing space or receiving a copy of your floor plan. It would help to speed the process along to have these items handy. I will then respond with an estimated project fee along with a general timeline around my next available opening to start on your project.
Step 2: Payment and Contract Agreement
Once we have both decided to work together, I will send over the contract and payment details.
Step 3: Client Questionnaire
Every project begins with a client questionnaire so that I can get to know you, your goals and the needs of your space. Here you can upload your floor plan, photos of your space as well as other pieces of information that will help me get a better idea of who you are and how you want to use your space. As the project progresses, there may be additional questionnaires to complete so that I can gather the necessary information to inform the design of your space (e.g., Design Style Questionnaire used for mood board and sourcing, Paint/Colour Consultation Questionnaire).
Step 4: Let’s Design
Space planning: The first step in designing interiors is the creation of balanced floor plans. I will send over three options of furniture layouts for each room in your space. Once the layout option is chosen, I will send over an itemized list of furnishings as well as their associated size requirements. The furniture layout is a critical tool that will help you spend your furniture budget effectively and efficiently, so that you can go shopping for only the items that will fit in your space.
Mood board: Once we’ve agreed on which floor plan option to move forward with, we will work together on a mood board for your space. The mood board is yet another critical tool that will help identify the design style and colour palette that works best for you and your space. I will send over two options for the concept of each space. The mood board will include the associated colour scheme for the space.
Sourcing: Once a concept has been chosen, I will source materials/furnishings to fulfill the mood/concept of the space. Depending on the package you choose, I will include one to three options for each item being sourced. From this process, I will send you a click-and-buy list of items that you can use to purchase the items to your very own dream space.
Consultations: These are one-on-one phone consultations scheduled as needed to answer any questions you may have along the way.
How We Charge
We bill hourly and depending on the scope of your project I will send you a cost estimate to give you an idea of how much time we think your project will take. We offer a range of service packages to meet a range of client needs. Our hourly rate does not include taxes and credit card or PayPal service fees. Our hourly rate does not include the cost of goods and materials (such as furniture), delivery or storage fees.
A general time line for a design project can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3+ months, starting from the day of initial payment. For just the floor plan development alone, it can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks. For a full design from floor plan development, mood board, to sourcing and furniture selections, this can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks as there is a bit of back and forth decisions to be made together.
